The State Government & Regulatory Issues Committee met on October 30, 2025, in Santa Fe, bringing together representatives from across the country to review key regulatory developments and advance several ongoing initiatives.

The group heard subcommittee updates, beginning with a report from the Credentialing Commission, where several HSE initiatives were highlighted. The Tools & Resources Subcommittee reported notable progress on several major projects, including updates to the NAB study guide and planned revisions to the AIT and preceptor modules after completion of the Professional Practice Analysis in 2026.

The Committee also received an update from the Foundation of the NAB, which is supporting Virginia’s PositiveAge webinar training program aimed at developing future longterm care leaders.

A significant portion of the meeting focused on the annual state survey results. Participation rose to 34 states and findings showed varied structures for state boards, different requirements for state exams and training programs, and barriers preventing some states from attending NAB meetings.

Exam security and examattempt limits were another major topic. A proposal moving to the Board of Governors that would cap exam attempts beginning in January 2026, was presented. It was also noted that the Professional Practice Analysis survey is in its pilot phase, with distribution planned for November.
