NAB Board of Governors Advances Key Business at Fall 2025 Meeting

The NAB Board of Governors met on October 31, 2025, in Santa Fe, where leaders and delegates gathered to move forward a substantial agenda focused on governance, accreditation, credentialing, and professional standards.

Strategic Plan and Committee Highlights

The meeting opened with reference to the 2024–2026 Strategic Plan, followed by reports from several committees. The Member Relations and Outreach Committee outlined efforts to strengthen engagement through partnerships, social media strategy, and support for administrator residents to attend future NAB meetings. The Bylaws Committee presented two updates, adjusting officer election timing and relocating Credentialing Commission language to policy.

Education, Credentialing, and Continuing Education Updates

The Continuing Education Committee brought forward one action item, approving the ACHCA New York Chapter as a certified CE provider. The Education Committee advanced two accreditation actions, including a one‑year extension for Southern Adventist University. They also reported program sunsetting updates, annual report reviews, and progress on accreditation tools and manuals.

The Credentialing Commission secured approval for two major initiatives designed to streamline pathways for HSE‑accredited graduates which allowing full exam eligibility under HSE‑NAB and reducing exam costs. Both initiatives passed.

Regulatory, Exam, and Professional Practice Developments

The State Governance and Regulatory Issues Committee shared updates on resources under revision, including the Administrator Resident/AIT Manual, preceptor modules, and the NAB Study Guide. The Exam Committee announced continued growth of the exam item bank and received strong support for limiting exam attempts to four per cycle to enhance exam security.

The Professional Practice Analysis Committee reported successful launch of the PPA process and urged widespread participation in the upcoming survey to help shape the future of the profession.

Treasurer’s Report and Budget Approvals

The Treasurer presented the proposed 2026 budget, noting a projected increase in both income and expenses. The Board approved the budget and updates to the NAB rate sheet.

Additional Updates and Closing

The Chair’s Report highlighted the value of the week’s collaborative sessions and encouraged ongoing engagement ahead of the 2026 Annual Meeting in Maine. The President & CEO shared organizational updates, including an upcoming December briefing for state executives and the sunsetting of combo exams in January 2027.
