My years of service with NAB has given me a practical understanding of decision-making, resource stewardship, and stakeholder needs – experience that directly informs my readiness to serve as a member of the Executive Committee. As such, I’m honored and humbled to be running for the position of Secretary.
As to my background, I was born and raised in the State of Maine and have been a licensed nursing home administrator since 1996. I am licensed in both Maine and Massachusetts and achieved Health Services Executive, Qualified status with NAB in 2018. I also attained professional certification as an ACHCA certified nursing home administrator in 2001. While I have worked for organizations in Maine, Massachusetts and New Jersey, I had the opportunity to return home to Maine 4 years ago and now serve as the Chief Executive Officer of Piper Shores, Maine’s only nonprofit life plan community serving over 425 residents and 300 employees.
My credentials include substantial responsibility with documented results in a variety of leadership roles with local and national professional associations. I have a proven track record for successfully leading for-profit and nonprofit health care organizations and professional associations aimed at building a collaborative and innovative culture and strong partnerships designed to drive exceptional outcomes. I have also participated in several national quality initiatives, to include an appointment as a National Quality Award Senior Examiner with the American Health Care Association and board representative for the Advancing Excellence Long-Term Care Collaborative.
My experience with board relations and governing structures, combined with almost 30 years of executive level experience in the post-acute health services continuum, would allow me to support NAB’s strategic and quality initiatives aimed to advance public protection along the senior living and health services continuum through enhanced professional standards for Health Services Executives.
As a visible, highly engaged and resident-centered leader with a passion for driving quality healthcare programs to meet the needs of older adults, I feel confident that my business strategy experience spanning the healthcare landscape, combined with a solid leadership background, makes me an ideal candidate.
